Indie Paranormal Book Reviews: GIVEAWAY! Signed paperback of Samson's Lovely Mortal

Go and visit Indie Paranormal Book Reviews -- they are giving away an autographed paperback of Samson's Lovely Mortal, Book 1 in the Scanguards Vampires series.

Here's a short excerpt from the book:

Samson scented the blood as soon as he stepped out of his bedroom, freshly showered and dressed. There was no doubt whose blood it was and where it came from. His nostrils flared, and his body tensed

He knew Amaury’s love for warm blood better than anybody and cursed himself for having let him stay while Delilah was with him. As he flew down the stairs and burst into the kitchen, he was battle ready – to save his woman from his best friend. If Amaury had bitten her, he’d kill him. Fury shot through him as his eyes focused on the scene in the kitchen: Amaury bent over Delilah’s bleeding hand.

Without thinking Samson lunged at his best friend, and with a loud thud they both crashed onto the hard kitchen floor.

“Noooooooo!” Samson’s scream echoed in the kitchen. He flashed his fangs and snarled, pinning Amaury underneath him as he pummeled him with his fists. His friend’s arms came up in defense, trying to shield his face.

“Stop!” But Amaury’s voice was drowned out by Samson’s fierce roar. Samson’s fist connected with his friend’s jaw once more. Deflecting his next hit, Amaury held him at bay.

“Samson!” Delilah’s voice finally penetrated his head.

“I didn’t do anything,” Amaury hissed.

“Samson! What’s going on?”

He jerked his head and instantly knew he shouldn’t have turned toward her when he saw her face react to him. In his daze he’d forgotten about everything. He hadn’t realized what she’d see: his vampire side.

Delilah shrieked, eyes wide, mouth open, her hand holding onto the counter as she backed away from them.

“Oh my God!” Her chest heaved as if she couldn’t get enough air. “Oh my God, what are you?” It wasn’t really a question. It was more of a statement.

Damn, he was so screwed.

Tall, Dark and Wolfish by Lydia Dare

I came back from the Romance Writers of America Convention in Orlando with a suitcase full of books. Finally, after finishing the first revision of my new Greek God novel, I've allowed myself to read one of them. As a treat, so to speak.

I really enjoyed Tall, Dark and Wolfish by Lydia Dare. It was very sensual, and frankly, those historical werewolves are growing on me. There was a really great connection between the hero and the heroine, and a neat little sexual thing I can't really reveal because it would be considered a spoiler. Suffice it to say, I wish I'd thought of that for one of my novels!

I think Lydia Dare is a great new author to watch for all those who love their historical romances with a bit of a bite.

Inspiration at the Hair Salon

I've been getting my hair done at a small salon in Sausalito for the last two years now, and not only do I love the way Jennifer does my hair, the whole experience is always relaxing.

Today I spent three hours in the chair - psst, because of the color job I need, but don't tell anybody - and in the course of those three hours I got lots of inspiration for new stories. And I might have even inspired a couple of the other customers to pick up one or two of my books, since Jennifer's and my chatter clearly made their ears perk up - after all, everybody listens in when you talk about sex and hot guys.

So, next time I'm stuck on a story and don't know what I should do next, I'll stop by a hair salon and see what everybody's talking about ...

Where you do find your inspiration?

Progress on Book number 3 in the Scanguards Vampires Series

Work will soon recommence on the 3rd book in the series.

I will be following Gabriel and his love interest. Gabriel, who's originally from New York where he runs operations at Scanguards headquarters, has decided to extend his stay in San Francisco to take care of a little problem. It's a sexual problem as you may have guessed already if you've read the other two books in the series. Enough said.

Unless I run into any unforeseen problems, a December 2010 release for Gabriel is in the cards.

I haven't settled on a title yet, but one suggestion is "Gabriel's Blood" to keep in line with the other titles in the series which use the first name of the hero.

Scanguards Vampires Series

I recently released the first two books of my Scanguards Vampires Series, and they have turned out to be a great success both on Amazon Kindle and on Smashwords. It it yet too early to say if the response will be as good from the iBookstore (for iPads), Barnes and Noble online, and the Sony ebook store, since there the books have just barely hit the electronic shelves.

Samson's Lovely Mortal is slated to be the next book reviewed on the brand-new blog dedicated to Independent Paranormal Authors:  Indie Paranormal Book Reviews

Previously, Samson's Lovely Mortal has been reviewed on:
The success of Samson's Lovely Mortal has prompted me to publish a paperback edition of the book. I will announce on this blog when the paperback edition will be available for purchase. Anticipated release date is September 1, 2010.

Several more books are planned in this series, with book 3 to be published around Christmas 2010.
